Braiding the hair has been popular for many centuries. Long hair is an indication of health and beauty. Besides creating a neat hairstyle that can last for days, braids for black hair keep the locks from breaking.
Locs
One of the most iconic hairstyles of all time is dreadlocks. Eye-catching, easy to maintain and full of attitude, locs are not for the shy types! For natural hair, they are considered a protective style because they don’t require any chemicals to create. They also help the hair retain moisture, and don’t put too much stress on the scalp. Dreads also require lots of patience as they can take years to be fully complete. If you can’t wait that long, then try faux locs. The only limit is your imagination.

In the age of social media, Black people, specifically Black women, are consciously carving out spaces for themselves to inspire and encourage one another through the acceptance of natural Black beauty.

One of the most gorgeous ways to rock a protective style is with a crochet hairstyle. This protective natural hair style requires litte upkeep, and can last up to 8 weeks.

Updos for natural hair can seem like a dream come true when the temperature is climbing and heat styling becomes the dreaded moment of every day. Updos are not only practical, they are very creative and easy to complete.
Perms/relaxer
Many of us refer to relaxers and perms as the same thing but, believe it or not they have two different meanings. A permanent weave is often times referred to as a perm. A relaxer is a permanent straightener for hair that is tightly coiled. This works when at least 60% of the coils are straightened.
